RE: dog food across US border

We have only have asked once when crossing the border, and because the dry kibble food had lamb in it they took it. The border guards even apologized for taking it. The rules regarding what meat can be transported the border affects the dog food also, and sheep, lamb, etc, are still not allowed but other meats are okay. It was not a problem, we had very little food left and there was a store just across the border where we purchased a new supply.

RE: Non Poop Pickin-up

Yeah it is a shame that all do not pick up after there pets. At the RV park we are in we are constantly seeing the staff going around picking up doggie do, the sheet of rules we recieved when we checked in states very clearly that if we see anyone not doing so, we should report them and also states that they do not charge extra for pets but may have to do so if pet owners are not responible for clean up. The problem is that we never see anyone not picking up these people must only do that when it is dark out eh! There are also signs posted regarding picking up after pets. We always pick up as we hate stepping in it while walking dogs in the dark for their last potty break.
Love the ideas you all came up with for solving the problem.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Glad to hear things are going well for the dog. I have never in my whole life known a man (and Sue) that attracts dogs to him when the time is needed. Truly God is at work. (and Levi, Fella and Charlie). And she is a lab.
How did you come by the name of Sarah?? Or did I miss that in the reading?
Wow Richard what a story, so happy she is going to be okay.
God Bless you both.

RE: trac-phne vs jitterbug for cell phone usage

We use Tracfone, bought the phones at Wal-Mart last spring so we would have a resonable cost cell plan while travelling in the States, we like them, the coverage is better in the eastern States than the west though (you can check the coverage map on the Tracfone website) although we have not had a problem with coverage except right here at Tombstone Territories RV Park about 7 miles from Tombstone, AZ but I suspect we would have an issue with most cell phones in this park as it sits in a valley. For us the big plus is we can call our family and friends in Canada without roaming charges or long distance charges, just uses regular mintues and we set up toll free numbers for our family to call us toll free to them. I cannot comment on Jitterbug, I am not familiar with them at all. Well hope this helps a bit. I am sure others will comment on their experience with both phones.

RE: Canadian migration

Yep from we are from Alberta and arrived in Tombstone Territories RV Park for the winter yesterday, we saw lots of RV's heading south on I25 also and met some great folks in different overnight stops along the way heading to various locations in AZ and Texas! Enjoy your winter wherever you are!

RE: Lobo's cause of death

It's wonderful that your vet took the time and trouble to do a thorough necropsy. Most people can't afford it and a lot of vets are reluctant to do them, I think, unless there are legal reasons. While it's a terrible shock to lose a pet suddenly when she appeared to be in perfect health, I think I'd tell myself it was better than suffering through a painful, lingering illness. Glad you have a new baby to share your affection with.
Our vet did the procedure free of charge. We all agreed that it was in our other dogs best interest to perform autopsy/necropsy. It has put our mind to rest that it was nothing contagious or poisonous.
Thanks for the update, you have a wonderful vet for sure and I know it will help to bring closure.
Looking forward to seeing the pics of your new puppy, Sierra, what a cute name, take care and God Bless!

RE: Just saying HI

Welcome long time reader, first time poster.
I would love to fulltime but with a job and kids still at home it's not even on my radar. I'm a little envious of those folks who are embarking on this new adventure.
My wife has always balked at the idea of fulltiming but we saw a diesel pusher this weekend and her response was, "I'd fulltime in that!" Maybe there's hope.
Anyway, good luck.
Gunship guy, I looked at the pics of your present fifth wheel, can't see see why DW wouldn't be happy with that!
Hope you can talk DW into when the kids are gone, good luck!
Dave have a blast, safe travels!
